There are many ways that our friends and family inspire us all year long. When it comes time to celebrate their birthdays, creating the perfect custom bouquets is a meaningful way to convey your feelings. Each month of the year has an associated birthstone, and as we look forward to the next few months, the floral designers at Zeidler’s Flowers thought we would share the precious and semi-precious stones that will inspire our designs over the coming year.

January and July both celebrate red birthstones – the garnet and the ruby, respectively. Red roses, amaryllis and gerbera daisies all showcase the passionate color that signifies romance and excitement. The stunning February amethyst is a purple quartz that can be expressed through roses, lilacs, gerbera daisies, and mums.

April, June, and October feature the diamond, pearl, and opal. White and off-white flowers make lovely birthstone bouquets – and crystals, colored stones, and glittery accents add shimmer and bling. The emerald is showcased in May, and the peridot takes the spotlight in August. Both of these green hues can be seen in Fuji mums, bells of Ireland, and orchids, resulting in striking bouquets. March, September, and December share vivid shades of blue; aquamarine, sapphire and blue topaz (turquoise) are gorgeous ambassadors and can be represented by blue delphinium, hydrangea, and dendrobium orchids. November’s topaz (citrine) is a rich amber colored birthstone but can range to orange – which is its most valued shade.
