Listen up, kids: there’s a whole world of music out there inspired entirely by flowers. Don’t believe us? Consider these titles: The Rolling Stones Dead Flowers. The Talking Heads Nothing But Flowers. Edith Piaf La Vie En Rose. Bon Jovi Bed of Roses. Zeidler’s Flowers could go on, and we will, below, in the form of a playlist, which we think you should cue up on the sound dock and listen to all summer long. Musicians have long been inspired by the floral world, taking a note from flowers, plants and herbs. The creative exchange has led to some really great songs, and these are some of our favorites.
The Zeidler’s Flowers team is dedicated to bringing you the best quality flowers, but our investment in them doesn’t stop when they leave our hands. We want you to know exactly how to preserve and maintain your beautiful blooms so that they live their longest, fullest life in your hands. So without further ado, a few tips and tricks culled from our substantial experience working with flowers.
When summer rolls around, we all get bitten by the travel bug. Maybe we’ve planned a trek across the country to take in all of our natural wonders, or maybe we’re finally going on that major trip abroad we’ve been fantasizing about for years. But even if we’re staying put in our own homes, enjoying the experience of doing nothing at all, Zeidler’s Flowers wants you to know, it’s possible to invoke the feeling of having traveled in your space without packing a single bag. The answer? Flowers, of course.
This summer we celebrate the United States of America’s 242nd birthday and we know you want to do so in style! Whether you’re hosting a fabulous cookout or attending one as a guest, be sure to bring along some flowers that mark the occasion. As a centerpiece or other means of decoration, flowers can bring out the spirit of the occasion and lend a festive flavor to any get-together. Wherever your Independence Day celebrations take you this year, be sure to bring a fabulous arrangement from Zeidler’s Flowers along with you.
One of the best ways to celebrate the arrival of summer is to host a June gathering that reflects all that’s best about the season—and there’s a lot, if you ask us here at Zeidler’s Flowers. The longer, warmer days and milder nights practically require us to plan a party that takes place outdoors, ultimately lit by candles and moonlight as it winds into the evening. Our menus might take a farm-to-table approach, showcasing the season’s bounty. Imagine a platter of salmon or herb-encrusted pork next to a heaping salad topped off with garden-fresh veggies. Or a charcuterie full of meats, cheeses and seasonal fruits, a cherry pie or refreshing sorbet waiting in the wings, and plenty of chilled wine on hand. All that’s missing? The flowers to go with it.
There are two reasons to be thrilled it’s June: weddings and anniversaries.
More people marry this month than any other, and it’s not hard to understand why. Warm weather, blue skies, the dawn of summer. And flowers blooming everywhere you look, in a variety of colors and textures. It’s almost too easy to make a brilliant bouquet, and we here at Zeidler’s Flowers should know—we do weddings. Whether you’re looking for a wedding florist or the perfect anniversary design to give your sweetie, we’re here to help you with both.
If you ask us at Zeidler’s Flowers, the challenge of shopping for Father’s Day need not be such a struggle. In fact, we’ve got two stellar ideas any dad would love, ensuring that you cover all your bases. And speaking of bases, it’s entirely possible to combine a little flower power with a love of the game, in the same way that a snack basket can be made as dad-centric as possible. Let us show you.
If you have a best friend, you’ll want to make a note of June 8. Best Friend’s Day comes but once a year, so you’ve got one chance to make it count. The Zeidler’s Flowers team knows that every friendship is unique—there are as many friendships as there are endless combinations of blooms. Flowers are the perfect gift for this reason, as they allow you to offer something as individually beautiful as the relationship you share with your bestie.
When we talk about the flowers of early summer, it’s impossible not to mention roses. After all, June is designated Rose Month, and there are so many varieties that bloom with abandon during this warmer time. The rose is the perfect emblem for a season where everything is in its fullest expression: the hottest sun, some of the most drenching rains, the richest garden, the most fragrant blooms. Zeidler’s Flowers welcomes the warmer months for their sense of fruition and festivity, the kind of mood that a rose design seems absolutely made for.
Zeidler’s Flowers joins our Evansville community in reflecting on the brave efforts of the men and women who died in service to country, protecting and preserving our nation’s values and making our lives better for it. Many of us have been personally impacted by the loss of a soldier, and on Memorial Day, we experience both the sadness of our loss as well as a sense of hopeful patriotism and admiration. We attend parades and ceremonies that allow us to collectively mourn and reflect, and we also gather together with friends and family in each other’s homes to embrace the people in our lives now even as we remember the ones we have lost. The flowers and other decor we bring to the events we host should capture the spirit of Memorial Day.
