And we are with you today, if you are grieving the death of a loved one. We understand that in the times of sadness, it can be a bit more difficult to decide which flowers are best, and how you should honor this person you cared about. That is why our team of floral designers is dedicated to making sure that we do whatever we can to help you through this time, by providing and advising you on the funeral arrangements and sympathy flowers you will need. 

Funeral flowers are those arrangements that are sent to the funeral home. Often more extravagant and formal than a normal bouquets, these designs are sent as a tribute to the deceased, and as such are not addressed to a family member. Standing sprays (such as seen below), crosses, or wreaths are common designs that will honor your friend, colleague or family member, and are displayed throughout the services.

It is important to note that the casket spray or urn flowers are traditionally ordered only by the immediate family.

By contrast, sympathy flowers are sent to the family of the deceased, as an expression of condolence. These arrangements are generally small to mid-sized bouquets and designs which can easily fit into home decor, such as sitting on tables  or functioning as centerpieces. If you have a relationship with not just the deceased but with his closest relatives as well, sympathy flowers are the best choice. These should be sent directly to the family home.

Long Lasting Remembrance: Green plants are also a great option to send as a sympathy gift, and will provide a lasting reminder of your love and support.

In Lieu of Flowers? Although many families may decide on donations to a favorite cause “in lieu of flowers”, a recent study by Harvard University proved that flowers actually have a positive impact on those grieving, and it is considered a benefit to be surrounded by this visible and tangible expression of love and support. And in reality, most people want to send flowers to those who are hurting – therefore make the donation, but don’t deny the flowers. The family will truly appreciate the extra special effort.
