Remembering With Memorial Day Designs

Memorial Day was established in the years following the Civil War, and for decades the observance was known as Decoration Day. Although originally a remembrance of Civil War fighters, after World War I the scope was expanded, and the name changed to Memorial Day. In 1971, Memorial Day was officially designated a national holiday, honoring the sacrifices of those heroes who died during the commission of their military service.
