Your favorite flower says a lot about your character. So, Evansville and Newburgh’s best florist shop, Zeidler’s Flowers, wanted to delve into the favorite flowers of famous women in honor of Women’s History Month. It was a wonderful surprise to see how each flower embodied the spirit of the woman show chose it her favorite.
Jennifer Lopez – White Lilies and Roses
Actress, dancer, composer, and singer, J Lo appears to be in a position to do it all. Another celebrity that likes white roses (see Lady GaGa and Madonna), this pristine floral represents integrity, forever like, and perfection. The magnificent white lily is a big, stunning, scented floral composed of 6 petals along with a long pistil. A flower related to the Virgin Mary’s purity in Christianity, the lily also presents strength and royalty.
Lady Bird Johnson – Lavender Bluebell
Lady Bird Johnson devoted herself to making American cities beautiful, and she did through flowers. While in her role as First Lady, she made it a priority to get the Highway Beautification passed, which it did in 1965. Because of this Act, highways across the U.S. are now lined with flowers and native plants instead of junkyards. Lady Bird believed the mental health of a community could be improved by beauty – and what’s more beautiful than flowers? Her favorite flowers were the delicate yet regal wildflower, the bluebell. With a beautiful shade of lavender and petals that form the shape of a bell, this flower represents humility, devotion, and gratitude – traits Lady Bird had in spades.
Michelle Obama – Hydrangeas and Pink Roses
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, who is also an author and a lawyer, has become a role model for healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle. Her favorite flowers are hydrangeas and pink roses. Hydrangeas have a variety of meanings in different cultures ranging from empathy and understanding to boastfulness and bragging. Pink roses, however, exemplify elegance, femininity, refinement, and sweetness – traits that this remarkable woman possesses.
