Keep spirits bright this year when you participate in Secret Santa, the popular group gift swap that relies on the recipient not knowing the giver's identity. This holiday mainstay is played in offices and among groups of friends throughout the West, where it goes by many names and has spawned countless variations here in the U.S., among them Yankee Swap, White Elephant and even Secret Santa online.
Let Zeidler's Flowers help you select just the right item for your lucky giftee this year. After all, this is the time to wow them. Read More about A Majorly Merry Secret Santa Gift »

Is there any plant more associated with the holidays than the red-for-days poinsettia? Not likely. This plant's color makes it the perfect fit for the season's palette, sure, but it's also the history of the poinsettia that plays a major role. After all, this delightful plant comes in white, pink, green, and even orange, too, so it's definitely not just about color.
Poinsettias come from Mexico, where legend holds that in the 16th century, an impoverished girl was instructed by an angel to place weeds on a church altar to honor Jesus' birthday. Those weeds blossomed into red leaves, and the tradition began. Read More about Paint Your Office With Poinsettias »

Thanksgiving is a time to gather with our loved ones and count our blessings, preferably around a table set with a feast. During the season of abundance, we love to pull out all the stops, offering the best from our kitchens and our hearts to those who have come to spend time with us. We want to decorate the house, light the candles and trim the tree, creating an atmosphere of warmth and comfort for all who enter our homes.

Are you traveling over hill and dale this Thanksgiving, or staying put? If it's the former, you're not alone. 50 million Americans went 50 miles or more last year to break bread with their friends and family. If it's "To Grandmother's house we go" for you and yours, you may want to consider one of our oldest gifting traditions: the host gift.
It's a lovely custom to offer a host a gift for their efforts, especially when those efforts produce a Thanksgiving feast. If you've lucked out of hosting duty this year, thank your lucky stars. But we at Zeidler's Flowers think you're also going to want to show your gratitude to your hosts. With flowers. Read More about Harvest Florals for the Host »

It's almost Veterans Day, an occasion we've celebrated in some form or another since 1919, when it was called "Armistice Day" and intended to commemorate the end of WWI the year before. Over the years, it evolved into what it is now, a time to honor our U.S. military vets for their service and sacrifice.
Zeidler's Flowers joins the rest of the Evansville community in recognizing our deserving heroes through parades and observances that acknowledge our friends, family and neighbors. But we also believe that it's the perfect occasion to remember our veteran military through flowers, and we've got just the patriotic blooms for that. Fall's iconic flower the mum has arrived on our doorsteps. It's swinging from baskets over our front porches and dressing up our Fall festivals, along with haystacks and pumpkins. We at Zeidler's Flowers are always delighted to see November's bloom and wouldn't complain if every doorstep within a ten-mile radius of Evansville was covered in them. To that end, we've put the humble mum into many of our Fall designs. Harvest-hued and approachable, mums never fail to keep things bright even as shorter days are coming. There's nothing like the look of fall flowers - the harvest hues, the mix of textures, the special elements like curly willow and stalks of wheat. A bundle of blooms during autumn can arrive in a rustic basket or a copper-colored mug. Best of all are Halloween bouquets, which can be wicked and whimsical all at once. Send your Halloween sweetie (or someone who lives for Halloween) a bouquet that is anything but ghastly. We at Zeidler's Flowers have a variety of spirited designs available that would fit right into your haunted house. Read More about Wicked & Whimsical Halloween Bouquets »

Sweetest Day is a Midwest tradition, a holiday observance which began in Cleveland OH - but do you know what the origin of this sweet day is? While many assume it is similar to Valentine's Day, the intent behind the day was actually not romance.
In 1922, several local candy companies banded together to distribute over 20,000 boxes of chocolates to nursing homes, orphanages, and to the homeless. The event was a huge success, receiving widespread, positive media coverage. While the initiative caught on, some questioned the motives of the businesses. Still, the day has continued to grow in popularity, and has evolved into an occasion set aside for acts of kindness. Zeidler's Flowers has the floral designs, gifts, and chocolates you'll need to make someone smile on October 21. Read More about Sweetest Day in the Midwest »

One of the best parts about being the local florist here in Evansville is that we have the opportunity to participate in our friend's and neighbor's lives. Through our floral designs, we help you to celebrate the birth of a new baby, or the anniversary of your favorite couple. Our flowers are there to congratulate you on the promotion, honor you on your birthday, and comfort you through the loss of a loved one.
Doing life with our customers is one of the best parts of our jobs here at Zeidler's Flowers - and that includes having a little fun with our furry family members. After all, Fluffy and FIdo are as much a part of the community as the rest of us! Each year we sponsor a pet Halloween costume contest, and so to kick off the autumn season, we thought we might share just a few of our past distinguished participants.
